OTPaaS is a project funded by the French government as part of the France 2030 programme with a consortium made up of 14 French partners, including major industrial groups as well as SMEs, start-ups and national user technology suppliers, with strong support from major research institutes
Validated by 6 demonstrators and followed by ambitious industrialisation programmes, the main objective of OTPaaS is to enhance the massive digitisation of businesses by realising the continuum between the field and the cloud: to offer a suitable cloud for field digitisation, compatible with Gaia-X and easy to use by companies, including SMEs. It proposes to gradually and eventually replace field data processing, currently organised in silos, with a native Gaia-X platform by design (portable, interoperable, secure and sovereign).
In this respect, Gaia-X represents the next generation of data infrastructure: an open, transparent, and secure digital ecosystem, where data and services are available, collated, and shared in an environment of trust. To this end, the architecture of Gaia-X is based on the principles of decentralisation and federation, where this decentralised principle relies on the adoption of a self-sovereign identity by the different stakeholders that will be part of this new data space specification.
