pasquans2

PASQuanS2 is a flagship initiative under the European Commission’s Future and Emerging Technologies (FET) Quantum Technologies Flagship. This ambitious collaboration brings together leading academic and industrial partners across Europe to revolutionize programmable quantum simulation. Building on the successes of PASQuanS1 (2018–2022), PASQuanS2 aims to scale up quantum simulation platforms based on atoms and ions, and to foster a dynamic ecosystem for quantum simulation throughout Europe.

Phase One: April 2023 - September 2026

The first phase focuses on five strategic objectives:

  • Scaling quantum simulators to handle up to 2,000 atoms, advancing the technological frontier.
  • Expanding applications and testing a comprehensive software system for diverse use cases.
  • Demonstrating quantum advantage in solving both academic and real-world challenges.
  • Enabling cloud access to large-scale, programmable quantum simulators for broader adoption.
  • Building a sustainable supply chain and supporting the emergence of new startups to drive long-term impact.
Our role

Bull plays a pivotal role in several key tasks during PASQuanS2 Phase 1:

  • Delivering online analog quantum simulators accessible to end-users, regardless of their hardware expertise. This involves defining a user-friendly, hardware-agnostic API and collaborating closely with experiment owners for seamless integration.
  • Developing digital twins of experiments, including medium-scale “effective model” digital twins. These models prioritize scalability and problem size over absolute physical fidelity, enabling simulation of larger and more complex systems.
